Every lot, bundle and rupee on the floor.

The Production and Operations desks hold the work as it moves: who has which bundle, what came back, what went out to a printer, what the factory spent today and what each tailor has earned this week.

01A week on the desks

One week on the floor, screen by screen.

The screen names below are the ones your supervisors see. Open the demo beside this page and follow along on the sample factory.

  1. Monday
    Production

Lots come onto the floor and get a tailor.

The Production screen lists every lot the factory is holding, with the pieces cut. The supervisor picks a lot and a worker with Assign worker, or hands out several lots in one go with Assign several lots. The card fills in a rate for the process, which the supervisor can change before saving.

  2. Tuesday
    Active assignments

Bundles out with each worker, counted back in.

Active assignments lists every bundle still out with a worker. Pieces handed back are recorded against the bundle. A part return lowers the count still out, and the row closes when the last piece is in.

  3. Wednesday
    Lots Sent/Received

A lot goes to the printer with its parts ticked.

The operations supervisor sends a lot to a printer and ticks what is in the bundle: top front, lower front, baju, top back, lower back, or a note of anything else. When it comes back it is counted in, so the office can see which lots are outside and with whom.

  4. Thursday
    Factory Cash Book

Floor cash, kept apart from the office's.

Money handed to the supervisor goes in as cash received, and what they spend goes out under a category, with a running balance that cannot go below zero. It is a separate book from the office's cash and bank book, so the two never mix.

  5. Friday
    Alteration

Faults are recorded against the lot that has them.

Pieces that need redoing go on the Alteration register under their lot, and the correction is recorded when it is done. The register is for following up: stock and wages still move through the worker and stock screens.

  6. Saturday
    Workers & Payments

The week's wages, approved before they are paid.

Each worker's earnings build up as their bundles go out, at the rate on each card. At the end of the week the supervisor submits the payout, an admin approves it on the Approvals screen, and only then is it marked paid. Editing an assignment changes its wage, even after the payout is submitted, so the approver checks the batch first. Weekly job cards print Monday to Sunday, one per worker, singly or with Print all active.

  7. Every day
    My day

Each supervisor starts on their own list.

My day shows what is waiting: lots still on the floor, pieces recorded this week, lots past their production date, and handovers waiting for Inventory to check. Each line clears itself once the work behind it is recorded.

02What it records

What the floor records.

Each of these is written once, by the person who saw it happen, and the office, the stock and the wages all read the same record.

  • lot Lots Design number, pieces cut, and where each one is from the tailor through to packaging.
  • pcs Bundles and pieces Given out to a worker, counted back, and still out, bundle by bundle.
  • ₹/pc Rates and wages A piece rate per process: Tailor, Four Thread, Folding, T/C, Press and Packaging.
  • ₹ Factory cash Received, spent by category, and the balance in the supervisor's hands.
On the phone

The same desk on the supervisor's phone.

Both floor desks run in any phone browser, and in the Android app now in closed testing on Google Play. My day stacks the day's work in one column, and a single toggle switches the desk to Hindi.

  • Menus, screens and forms in Hindi; names, lot numbers and rupee figures stay as entered
  • A speaker button on the main screens reads the heading out, Hindi first and then English
  • Voice entry for six everyday entries, on a live workspace (your company's own Stitchfloor, as opposed to the public demo)

03Scope

What the floor desks do not do.

Better to hear it here than in the second week. If one of these matters to your factory, say so when you write and we will tell you straight whether it is planned.

  • No statutory payroll. Wages are piece-rate earnings and approved payouts. PF, ESI and other deductions are not worked out.
  • No money is sent. Marking a payout paid records that it was paid; the money leaves the way it does today.
  • Printers are the only outside workers. Lots go out to printers. Other kinds of job worker are not modelled yet.
  • No e-way bill for a lot sent out. E-way bills are filed from a sale invoice, so a job-work movement is filed on the portal. Read the guide.
  • No machine planning or barcode scanning. Bundles are recorded by the supervisor, not scanned.
  • Printed job cards stay in English. So do form error messages. The desks themselves switch to Hindi.
  • No voice entry in the public demo. It needs a live workspace; everything else on these desks is in the demo.
On the Factory and Intelligence plans
  • Essentials ₹6,999 (not included)
  • Factory ₹11,999
  • Intelligence ₹14,499

04Questions

What a factory owner asks first.

Will my tailors have to type?

No. Tailors do not need an account at all. The supervisor records who took which bundle and what came back, on a phone. On a live workspace the supervisor can say it instead, in Hindi or Hinglish, and check the filled-in card before saving.

Does the floor need a computer?

No. Both floor desks run in a phone's browser, iPhones included, and the Android app is in closed testing on Google Play.

Can it follow our own processes?

Today the flow is fixed: tailoring, four thread, folding, T/C, pressing and packaging, each with its own piece rate, which an admin sets in Settings. If your floor runs differently, tell us in your first email.

Does it pay the workers?

No. It works out what each worker earned and holds the weekly payout until an admin approves it. You pay the money the way you pay it today, and marking the payout paid records that.

Can I try it in the demo?

Yes, all of it except voice entry. Sign in as production.demo or operations.demo with the password Stitchfloor@123. Demo data stays in your browser.

Assign a worker to a lot. It takes a minute.

The demo runs the same software on a sample factory. Nothing you do there touches anyone else.
