ERPNext is an ERP you build. Stitchfloor is built for a garment floor.

ERPNext is open source, with no licence fee, and covers accounts, stock, manufacturing and subcontracting for any industry. Frappe's own garment page calls it an ERP you make your own with custom fields, and a certified partner sets it up.1, 2 Stitchfloor starts from the garment floor: piece-rate wages, lots at job workers part by part, Hindi supervisor desks and voice entry, and our own team tailors it to your factory as part of onboarding, at no charge.

Checked against Frappe's and India Compliance's pages, October 2026.

01The short answer

Which platform is the right fit?

ERPNext is the more general system, and the more configurable one if you have a partner and the time. On a garment floor Stitchfloor goes deeper out of the gate, is tailored to you by its own team, and for ten people costs less in year one once GST and implementation are added. Here is how we would decide.

Choose ERPNext if

An open-source ERP you own, configured for many kinds of work.

  • You want open-source software with no licence fee, that you could host yourself or move between partners.3
  • You make many kinds of product and want bills of materials, work orders, workstations and subcontracting orders with a supplier warehouse.4, 5
  • You have an implementation partner, or people in-house, to configure custom fields, forms and workflows and keep them up to date.2, 6
  • You want GST filing by API, including GSTR-1, through the India Compliance app.7

Choose Stitchfloor if

The garment floor and the books, tailored to your factory without a project.

  • You pay by the piece, per process, and approve wages weekly.
  • Lots go out to printers and other job workers part by part, and you need to know what came back and what each is owed.
  • Supervisors should have desks built for a garment floor, in Hindi, on their own phones, and on a live workspace speak an entry in Hindi or Hinglish instead of typing it.
  • You want the vendor's own team to tailor the system to your process steps, job work and approvals, at no charge, and go live in days.
  • You want one monthly price for the company with GST included, and nothing to pay before you are live.
02Feature comparison

Stitchfloor and ERPNext, capability by capability.

ERPNext is assessed as Frappe Cloud hosts it, with Frappe's free India Compliance app, against Frappe's own documentation, with the specific finding beside each verdict. Partial indicates the capability is limited, manual, reserved for a higher tier or delivered through a paid add-on or third-party app. Not documented indicates we found no reference in the vendor's documentation, which is distinct from the vendor confirming it is unavailable. The heading row stays in view as you scroll; select a verdict to open its source.

  • Included as standard
  • Partial: limited, higher tier or paid add-on
  • Not available, per the vendor's documentation
  • Not documented by the vendor

03Fair to both

Where each one is stronger.

ERPNext covers more kinds of business, and you can change almost anything in it. Stitchfloor covers more of the garment floor, and its team does the changing for you.

ERPNextWhere it is stronger

  • Open source, no licence. The software itself is free; you pay for hosting and for whoever implements it, and you can self-host.3
  • Manufacturing breadth.Bills of materials, work orders with a job card per operation, workstations, quality inspections and subcontracting orders with a supplier warehouse, for any product.4, 5
  • GST by API.The India Compliance app files GSTR-1 through the portal's API and reconciles GSTR-2A and 2B, with its GST API calls included on Frappe Cloud.7
  • Bank reconciliation.Bank statements are matched inside ERPNext; Stitchfloor leaves bank reconciliation with your accountant.8

StitchfloorWhere it is different

  • Tailored by the vendor, at no charge. Our team sets Stitchfloor up around your process steps, job work, desks and approvals as part of onboarding. ERPNext's Starter Pack covers standard setups with no customisation; anything more is partner time.2
  • Piece-rate wages. Each process has a rate. A wage is earned when the bundle goes out and paid through a weekly payout an approver signs off, locked once it is submitted. ERPNext's HR pays by formula or hours; piece rates come from a third-party app.9
  • Lots at job workers, part by part.Tick the parts that went, count them back in, and price the job worker's bill when the goods return; one statement can cover several lots.
  • Hindi supervisor desks, and voice. The Production, Operations and Inventory desks run fully in Hindi, and on a live workspace a supervisor can speak an entry and confirm it. In ERPNext most of its own labels are translated, but most framework screens are not, and we found no voice entry.10
  • Apps for the floor.Stitchfloor's Android and iPhone apps are its own, by invitation. Frappe publishes no ERPNext phone app; phones use the browser or third-party apps.11
04Pricing and implementation

Total cost of ownership for ten users, GST included.

Each product is priced for ten named users on the edition closest to Stitchfloor's scope, with 18% GST applied and minimum seat counts, annual prepayment, renewals, per-device fees and remote access included. Due at signing is the cash required before the first transaction is posted. Stitchfloor charges no implementation fee and invoices only from go-live.

ERPNext on Frappe Cloud (₹2,050 site plan), with the Manufacturing Starter Pack

₹16,186effective monthly cost in year one, 10 users, GST included

ERPNext has no licence or per-user fee. A factory pays for hosting and implementation. Frappe Cloud charges per site, not per user: the ₹2,050 AWS Mumbai plan (2 CPU hours a day, offsite backups, third-party apps) is billed monthly with GST added for Indian customers. Frappe does not implement; its Manufacturing Starter Pack buys 70 hours from a certified partner.41, 42, 1, 43, 44, 45, 46

  1. Manufacturing Starter Pack, 70 partner hours₹1,40,000
  2. Frappe Cloud site, ₹2,050 × 12 months₹24,600
  3. Before GST₹1,64,600
  4. 18% GST₹29,628
  5. Due at signing, GST included₹1,65,200

Implementation: ₹1,40,000 Manufacturing Starter Pack, Frappe partner, included in the totals

Post go-live support (AMC) is extra: ₹30,000 to ₹1,20,000 a year plus GST (partner estimate). Piece-rate wages, WhatsApp and Tally migration are third-party apps. The Starter Pack page does not say whether GST is included; 18% is added here.

Stitchfloor Intelligence, all features

₹14,499a month, billed from go-live, 10 users, GST included

One subscription for the company, covering 10 users on unlimited devices, GST included. No implementation fee, and no invoice until you are live.

Compare plans

Implementation fees and billing terms.

No vendor publishes an implementation rate card; ranges are partners' and independent analysts' published estimates.

ERPNext's software is free, but a factory still pays for hosting and for the partner who sets it up, most of it before work starts. Its Starter Pack covers standard setups only; tailoring ERPNext to a garment floor is further partner time, and support after the first two months is a separate annual contract, which the totals above leave out.2, 12

05Moving across

From your books today to one record.

A factory can start with the floor and move the daily books once it trusts the figures. Your accountant can keep the software they use.

  1. The first weeks

    Start the floor in Stitchfloor

Supervisors record lots, job cards, wages and printers on their own desks, while the office goes on billing as it does today.

  2. Your office

    Move the daily books across

Invoices, e-invoices, e-way bills, receipts and payments are made in Stitchfloor and post to its double-entry books as the work happens. Opening balances come in by pasting your accountant's journal sheet.

  3. Your accountant

    They file from your figures

GSTR-1 is prepared for upload and GSTR-3B is worked out for your accountant. The books download as an XML file Tally imports, and registers and reports download as CSV for any other software.

What Stitchfloor is not It is not a general-purpose ERP: it does not plan material from a bill of materials or run MRP, and its worker desks are in Hindi and English. It prepares the GST returns and your accountant files them on the portal.
06Questions

Before you choose.

ERPNext is free. Why pay for Stitchfloor?

ERPNext's licence is free; running it is not. For ten users on Frappe Cloud with Frappe's Manufacturing Starter Pack, year one comes to about ₹1,94,228 with GST, ₹1,65,200 of it before work starts, and support after the first two months is extra.2, 3, 12 Stitchfloor Intelligence, with every feature, is ₹1,73,988 for the year with GST, billed monthly from go-live, with tailoring, migration and training included.

Can ERPNext be customised for a garment factory?

Yes: custom fields, forms and workflows can model almost anything, and Frappe's garment page describes exactly that.1, 6 Someone has to design and build it, usually a partner, billed by the hour. Stitchfloor already models the garment floor, and our team tailors it to your factory as part of onboarding, at no charge, building in any step, field, document or approval your factory needs that it does not have yet.

ERPNext has subcontracting. How is Stitchfloor's job work different?

ERPNext's subcontracting order sends raw material to a supplier warehouse and receives finished items back against a bill of materials.5 Stitchfloor works the way a garment floor sends work out: a lot goes to a printer or job worker part by part on a challan, with an e-way bill where one is needed, comes back counted, and the job worker's charges are priced on return.

Does ERPNext work in Hindi?

Partly. Hindi can be chosen as a user's language, and most of ERPNext's own labels are translated, but most of the Frappe framework screens around them are not, so a user sees a mix.10 Stitchfloor's Production, Operations and Inventory desks run in Hindi on the web and on Android, with about 40 spoken instructions.

Can I try it before I talk to you?

Yes. The public demo at demo.stitchfloor.com opens every desk on a sample factory, with a shared password and nothing to install. Voice entry and filing with the GST portals need a live workspace; in the demo an IRN or an e-way bill number is typed in by hand.
